a morning skincare routine

Along with many, my skin changes seasonally. Especially since I live in NY, & we experience every, lovely, glorious season. Some *cough* winter *cough* last more than others unfortunately… but we can manage. Also – April snow is not unheard of.

My skin is pretty dry/combo in general, but usually even drier in the winter months. And in the summer, my skin is combination, with some oily areas. Dryness can happen too… especially with too much sun exposure during the daytime. If that sounds like you too, then maybe give one or some of these products a go ? Let me know if you do !

Starting with the Naked Papaya cleanser from Kinship*. I think this is the perfect morning cleanser. Not only does it’s tropical scent just awaken your senses in the AM, but it has a creamy texture with a hydrating feel. Leaves skin feeling refreshed.

Next up is the 1000 Roses Floral Toner from Andalou Naturals. I purchased this as a cheaper dupe for the Korres H2Rose Hydrating Spray ( that I’m very obsessed with ) buuuuut, it’s not quite a dupe & I do miss my Korres spray. The Korres spray itself is very misty, and it leaves my skin super soft. This one can leave a bit of a tackiness behind. I use this to mostly dampen the skin before I apply the next products.

I followed it up with the Klairs Supple Preparation Hydrating Toner. I purchased the smaller one to truly test out it out first, then have a mini to refill for travel. I really do like this toner.  I’ve talked about it before on some Instagram posts. My favorite part is it’s more of thicker consistency toner compared to other more watery toners. I really like it a lot & I don’t mind the scent. FYI: If you’d like to save 10% off your first Wishtrend order and support the blog, please purchase through my affiliate link provided & use code : 8CE63D24 ! Much <3 love & thank you.

Eye cream is next and I’ve been using up the the Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream. I’ve had this one in the past, enjoyed it, ran out, used other things and then decided to try another. After not using it for several months, and then using it again… I can say I noticed such a huge difference in the firmness and overall look around my outer corner and inner eye area (my problem areas that also tend to get dry in the wintery months). My eye area looked, and stayed more hydrated. I’m thinking about using up this bottle again and trying a retinol based eye cream next . I’m torn between Dr. Dennis Gross, or starting with the affordable Inkey List Retinol Eye Cream. Ugh, I wish Biossance had a retinol eye cream. I love their eye gel so much !! But hey, if anyone has any recommends.. I’m all ears ! Drop a comment below with your recommends.

I’m also trying to use up my Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C Facial Oil. I remember loving it in the beginning and not sure why I took a break from it ? Well, I’ve been using it again during the day time and it’s slowly becoming a daily favorite !! Vit c and spf work great together !

On to moisturizer, I’ve been LOVING the Milk Makeup Vegan Milk Moisturizer. I truly thought it would be too thick for a daytime wear moisturizer, just judging from the consistency in the jar. But…. it’s actually not super thick at all. It melts into the skin leaving a dewy glow & happy skin. I really want to try the cleanser soon !

Last up, SPF. I have three that I’m rotating around right now, and mineral-based SPFs are my jam. Kinship* kindly gifted me there Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturizing SPF 32.  It’s creamier vs the other two I use which is a nice lil’ switch up throughout the week. The other two SPFs I’ve been loving are featured in my 2019 SPF Favorites post – feel free to read about them all there !

And that’s it !

Seems like a lot of products, and you can totally cut this down. You can easily skip cleansing in the AM ( especially if you don’t use any heavy creams or treatments at night ), just use water. And then moisturize + SPF. If you’re on the oilier side, you can just cleanse with water and go right into the the SPF on it’s own and no moisturizer. Mineral based SPFs can be pretty moisturizing on their own anyway. Another option for all the oily folks would be to use a gel based moisturizer, or a lighter serum consistency moisturizer before your SPF.

Talk soon,

-Alicia !
