I would say that 2019 was the year of testing out eye creams and serums.. I’ve sampled a lot throughout the past year, and I actually do have others that I can say I ’like’, but these are the three that I truly LOVE & use.
The Drunk Elephant C-Tango Eye Cream was one that I stopped using for a good chunk of the year and noticed how much I actually missed it once I picked it up again. After using it again towards the end of the year, I noticed such a huge difference in my fine lines and wrinkles. I feel like it really makes me look more awake and my eye area feels more moisturized, prepped & ready for makeup.
The Drunk Elephant Shaba Complex Firming Eye Serum was a surprise favorite for me. Black tea ferment & copper peptides are both really great ingredients for an eye product. This one compared to C-Tango takes a little bit more effort to press it into the skin and it has more of a slippery texture..which I don’t mind but figured I’d mention. I love that it plumps & hydrates the eye area, works well with my concealers, and it overall feels great around the eye area.
I will say that the Biossance Eye Gel stole the show this year. It does a remarkable job at de-puffing my eyes in the AM. I love the cooling sensation on the skin while applying and I love that it’s super lightweight. It also works wonderfully with makeup. Some amazing ingredients include sugarcane-derived squalane – to lock in moisture, caffeine – to help de-puff and reduce fine lines, and an assortment of peptides to boost collagen and reduce inflammation. If you’re looking for a de-puffing eye gel… THIS IS IT !
The price tag for all of these are up there, but I will say that a little goes a long way and you can easily get these to last 6 – 8 months or longer.
Some other noteworthy eye creams and serums that I did enjoy over the year include the Indie Lee I-Waken Eye Serum and the Tata Harper Restorative Anti-Aging Eye Cream . I really like both and can see myself purchasing the Indie Lee eye serum. It’s just so light & refreshing around the eye area. I almost wish it came in a smaller tube at a cheaper price. I would love to purchase the Tata Harper eye cream but tbh I just can’t see myself spending $105 on an eye cream, I just can’t do it !! Maybe if I had a gift card I would think about it, aha. 😂 But it’s an overall super nourishing, very hydrating eye cream.
Some tips: Apply your eye cream around the orbital bone with your ring finger or pinky in a dabbing motion. Refrain from rubbing the cream because the eye area is a very sensitive area + the skin around the eye area is very thin. Also, try not to get the eye cream close to your lash line because although it’s an eye cream, you don’t want to get it in your actual eye ! When people say their eye cream is ‘burning’ their eyes or irritated them… this can usually be the reason why. Although people can have reactions to certain ingredients, it’s most likely from rubbing the eye cream haphazardly all over the eye area or.. getting it too close to the eyeball.
