2019 Skincare Favorites: The Cleansers + Life Update

It’s hard to believe that it’s already February. We’re over a month into the new year.. a new decade ! January was one big, crazy, & insane month for me. I rang in the New Year with the flu and celebrated 2020 on my couch. I think I haven’t been that sick since grade school !! It was a wild ride of endless fevers for days, along with cold sweats, hot flashes, a stuffy nose & the worst… the body aches. I really wouldn’t recommend it, so please stay healthy friends ! Wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough/sneeze and please stay home if you have a fever !

I could be wrong about this, but I honestly believe my sickness was amplified by the fact that I was SO worried I was going to be this sick for my wedding on the 11th ! And when I realized how sick I was actually getting as days passed by, I started worrying about my now husband and wondering if he would catch it from me and THEN he also be sick for our wedding ! Ahhh !! All the anxiousness and worrying didn’t do me any good. And isn’t that an old saying ? “You’re going to worry yourself sick. Ha well, maybe that actually happened. Either way, It was a horrible week to say the least.

But you know what….. I fought through it. I wasn’t sick for our wedding and he didn’t catch it either !!! There were a few moments when he thought it was coming on. But he kept chomping down on vitamin c tablets, and honestly I think that was the trick. We were both flu-free for our wedding and it was the BEST day of our lives !! Close call for sure tho.

I’m planning on sharing more about our wedding in a blog post soon. One story I’m really excited to share is my wedding dress story ! We’re also planning a pretty epic honeymoon, or we’ve actually been calling it, honeytrek. Can’t wait to share ALL the details coming up in a few months.

The remainder of January continued to be just as crazy as the first half. We had family in and out of the hospital. We also welcomed a new family member into our lives ! We had a lot of final wedding things to actually start and try to finish in a reasonable amount of time, like Thank You cards and changing my name ! Things have finally started to mellow out. Phew…..

So, here we are. I asked you guys in a poll a couple weeks ago if you’d be interested in still hearing about my 2019 skincare favorites and 99% of you said ‘yes’ haha. I’ll be sharing them throughout the week and thought it would be fun to put them in separate categories and posts. So I’ll be starting off my favorites with… cleansers !

If you’ve been following me for any length of time, then you know I looooove the Youth To The People Superfood Cleanser. It’s been a favorite since the end of 2018 and I’ve been repurchasing it on & off now since then ! It takes off almost all of my makeup in one go (when I use it as a first cleanse) and it’s never made my skin feel dry or tight after cleansing. I won’t go into too many details since I’ve talked about it a lot and actually wrote an entire blog post on it.

The Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup Melting Butter was a new find in 2019 and it’s the first cleansing balm ….that I’ve tried and actually liked. It’s never irritated my eyes or left a film on my skin like others have done in the past. It helps break down even the toughest liquid lipsticks and waterproof mascara which is a huge plus. I love that it turns into a milky emulsion once you add water and I really, really enjoy it ! There’s so many others I want to try next but for now I’m obsessed with this one. ⁣

In 2019 I really wanted to try some more skincare from Pixi Beauty. I already use and love the Glow Tonic ! So, my sister heard my cries and for my birthday she surprised me with a cute set that included the Glow Mud Cleanser. Wow, this cleanser is soon nice. Probably one of my favorite cream cleansers yet. The texture is similar to a mask, but once it meets water it becomes this makeup melting monster, haha. I can’t wait to pick up the full size next. ⁣

Last up we have the Osea Ocean cleanser. This is my favorite AM cleanser for an assortment of reasons. It’s great for the morning because the refreshing scent awakens your morning mind ! It really does remind me of the ocean. The consistency of the cleanser is very unique. It’s almost like a creamy,  gel cleanser. It has never dried my skin out or left it feeling stripped. And I love that it contains Lactic Acid for a nice morning exfoliation. ⁣

There’s a few cleansers I have my eyes on for this year including the Then I Met You cleansing balm & cleansing gel. Also the Holi Frog cleansers seem interesting too. What were some of your favorites this past year ? Let me know or share your IG post or blog post so I can check them out !
